Toddler Holiday Eating
Keeping your toddler’s diet healthy during the holidays
If you are worried about your toddler’s health during the holidays, you have good reason to be concerned. The holidays are filled with endless cooking and eating. If you aren’t careful, your toddler’s health could be at risk.
The first important thing to keep in mind is that you should never big a huge deal about your toddler eating. You don’t want them to become self-conscious about their weight at an early age. If you think your toddler is eating too much, simply limit their intake and suggest healthier snacks.
Next, offer your toddler convenient foods that are good for them. Everyone loves the cookies and candies that are so popular with holidays. However, if you want to ensure that your toddler’s diet isn’t handicapped by the holidays, then incorporate healthy goodies into your baking day. Keep bowls of fresh fruit available on your dining table at all times. Stock up on fresh veggies and make veggie trays with healthy fat-free dips for your kids to munch on.
Third, limit the amount of sugar your toddler consumes. This includes drinks that are sweetened with sugar, like kool-aid. Opt for either sugar-free drinks. Even better, offer your toddler only juices that are made with real fruit.
Last, encourage your toddler to get plenty of exercise. Most moms keep their children indoors and out of the cold. Keeping them sedentary doesn’t help, though. If you prefer your toddler not go outdoors during the winter, then provide fun indoor games for them to play.
